CASUAL LONDON: A QUICK DASH TO GREENWICH

Come the week-end, I love our little half day trips around London. Greenwich via Canary Wharf is an ideal spot. I wanted to show you guys one of the most basic and most comfortable casual looks featuring a one-shoulder vest for these summer shenanigans.

A couple of months back I showed you some fave green spots and the black floaty outfit to go with them. Next, we went to Camden Town to check out all the fun it offered. So, let’s continue with my tips of what to explore in London when you have a few free hours.

Canary Wharf and Greenwich

Canary Wharf is a little city to itself. It’s all skyscrapers, huge plazas and greenery in between. You can get great glimpses of the river and one or other of the beautiful warships of the Royal Navy if you are lucky. Let’s not forget the shopping centre either. I have found it’s worth a visit especially when I have my eyes on a high street item that has sold out everywhere else.

So, what to do? One, feast your eyes on all those giants of glass and steel around you. Two, hop on the overground and get out to old and cute Greenwich village. The regular visit will probably include a couple of vinyl record shops we visit regularly. Next, we take a walk around the Old Royal Naval College and down to the riverbank. While it’s just a flash visit, you can’t have fun on an empty stomach. We grab lunch at the market – good vintage alert for home decor and toys. Finally, we hang out at the Gypsy Moth, our fave traditional pub in the area. It has a totally amazing garden. There is, of course, much much more to see in Greenwich than the Gypsy Moth and the Cutty Sark. I promise I will share more along with some pics of other quick trips and looks.

The most basic and comfy minimal look ever

When I run around a lot, often several hours on end, the most important thing is to wear amazingly comfortable shoes. Therefore, for high summer, my go-to style is this patent t-bar pair from Clarks. Next, I wear indigo-coloured casual skinny jeans because I don’t want to worry about where I end up sitting down. I like a rather basic white vest too but here, the one-shoulder cut adds a nice twist. When something is super-basic, super-comfy and super-casual, what makes it chic? The little details, I guess. The military-style gold belt buckle, the smart minimal bag with its tassel and postman’s lock, the striped enamel and gold anchor necklace, the patent finish of the sandals, and the big ladylike sunnies.

In case you are wondering, my fun little gym bag is for the extra layer, a jacket or a blazer. London is still London after all – you never know what kind of weather it throws at you.

Till next time, cheers,
Gabriella
