BEAUTY ESSENTIALS: SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

beauty and London staples Shiseido full lash serum Lancome Juicy Tubes Muji USB fan Moleskine London notebook

My absolute fave beauty essentials for the perfect lips, lashes and brows you can have in a totally natural way. All hail natural beauty and mindfulness! As a bonus, I’m throwing in a few (somewhat) London themed things I’m loving right now.

Yours truly is not the biggest beauty guru as you may have noticed. Now, that doesn’t mean I’m not addicted to a few absolutely cool products, just don’t talk about them often. So, here’s one of those rare occasions!

My beauty essentials: perfect natural lips, lashes and brows

The beauty staple I’ve been using for many years is Juicy Tubes by Lancome. I haven’t used classic lipsticks ever since I bought my first tube. They come in yummy fruity shades (and fragrances), and the best thing about them is, it doesn’t really matter which shade you use. It’s such a light layer but it makes your lips naturally beautiful.

My most recent beauty buy is the Full Lash Serum by Shiseido. I’ve never really messed with my lashes or brows before but recently I noticed a bit of unevenness here and there so I definitely wanted to try something that might work. And in fact, it does work. It’s only been a month but my lashes are longer, stronger and more even – no mysterious gaps in the left eye corner! Unfortunately, I haven’t miraculously started growing brow hairs where I didn’t have any before but my brows are getting stronger and growing more evenly.

London themed cool stuff I’m loving right now

Not long ago I got Moleskine’s famous London notebook as a gift, and I totally love it. It has maps, tracing paper for itineraries, travel planners, notes, sections to collect your own tips of what you liked, didn’t like, where to eat, drink, sleep and so on. It takes you right back to a pre-digital, pre-cloud era when you had your tips and facts in your handbag, and you collected travel bits and bobs and stuck them into a scrapbook with your personal notes.

This summer I fell in love with Muji’s USB powered mini fan and I just had to take it home. It also helped that I spotted it in store at half price (a cool tenner). With our worse-then-tropical continental summers, not to mention the lack of aircon in our cute little loft pad, this is a dream when I spend long hours editing images and writing posts.

I admit the Ted Baker Oyster card holder was an impulse buy, but a smart one. First, it’s beautiful with its pale grey patent leather finish and a pop of pink. Second, I used to always carry a comfy big wallet but I can’t really manage that with my new fave smallish handbags. This beauty, besides the Oyster, can hold three cards so I don’t need the big wallet when I step out for lunch on weekdays.

You may have noticed I loved Twinings tea. I’ve been enjoying the natural fruit teas every day for a few years now (some proof here and elsewhere on my social feeds). My personal favourites are the mango & strawberry and the pomegranate & raspberry flavours. This summer, I popped into the Twinings London flagship store and decided to give green teas a chance. If you like green tea, you must try the apple & elderflower one.

Finally, probably the oldest Brit stuff around me but a permanent favourite is all the issues of ELLE UK, the only paper magazine I buy each month, wherever I am. And I love to lay back on the couch reading it, with a cup of tea, of course 🙂
