Once upon a time, tunics were BIG. They were real staples in the Seventies, worn with serious denim flares or as coordinates with all kinds of smart flared trousers. I was not a big fan of tunics unless they could be worn as dresses. Now, they are back, and luckily, they are also back in black, and seasoned with details we love. I found the perfect tunic just wanting to be styled in a way that’s both minimal and striking.
Today’s outfit: how to wear the tunic
First, pick your tunic. I suggest an easy minimal black piece but statement details cannot hurt. Mine has oversized eyelets so it can be laced up at the sides.
Second, add a turtleneck top. I recommend a fine white long-sleeved one. If all is well, you already have it in your closet – you planned to wear it with that lacey cami top but never got round to it.
Third, the black trousers or jeans. It’s best if they are cropped and slim with a slight flare, but a straight cut will do fine too.
Fourth, the white ankle booties. White is the new black, perfect if you want to pack a subtle punch with your look.
Fifth, the red bag. OK, this is an extra punch but if you feel your black and white outfit is a bit demure, a flash of colour will do the trick.
Sixth, outerwear. With this look, anything goes, depending on the weather. I picked my snug little leather biker jacket to toughen up the good-girl look.
Finally, jewellery. This look doesn’t need anything special but a fine silver necklace can complement it nicely. This circle thing I put on the necklace was originally a handle-slash-charm-holder on a cosmetics pouch.
