STYLING THE BLACK SHIRT DRESS

I don’t really wear dresses these days but I have a thing for black summer dresses. Sometimes, it’s great to have something utterly light and comfortable in my overnight pack. Black shirt dresses are the perfect way to be prepared for a relaxed walk on the beach, right?

This one I’m wearing is a deconstructed-looking tie-waist piece. It has a tiny baroque style contrast print. I bought it some time ago, even before contrast stitch dresses and jumpsuits came in. Last time I travelled to Lake Balaton with Mum I wanted to make some use of it and it worked out brilliantly.

Styling the black shirt dress

Whether it’s small print or contrast stitch, the best way to style this type of dress is with flashes of white. I picked a cute pair of cateye sunnies, comfy soft leather mules and a hat. To keep things pared back, I wore a grainy leather bag. If you want to go crazy with the white matchy vibe, a black and white camera bag should be cool enough.

Breezy black dresses are some of summer’s best staples so make sure you grab at least one and keep it close 🙂

By the way, the photos of the beach and the cafe were taken in Siofok, at Lake Balaton. The ones I took on the train on the way to the town of Veszprem (check out my post of that old cute place and my outfit) are showing a typical North Balaton region landscape and the beautiful old industrial stuff there.
