WAYS TO STYLE THE CAMI AND MASTER EFFORTLESS CHIC

In the warmer months, we are just not after the fully-closed, uber-smart sharp suit looks, no matter how cool they are. Around mid-spring, I like to switch to cool shirt based outfits like this one – you know, no sweater, no blazer, just a great shirt. But then, you can’t wear shirts all the time, and of course, not all shirts are made to take you from office to bar in comfort. Enter the cami, one of the biggest wardrobe heroes ever (re-)invented.

Today’s comfy business casual look

The cami. Now, the keywords for this is minimal, flowy, V-neck, with the finest straps ever, worn tucked into high-waisted jeans. Scroll down for a bunch of cool options!

The jeans. Of course, the cami or fine strap tank is the key piece but what most stands out are the jeans. Mine have a vintage re-done vibe with the high waist, the vertical front stitching, the raw hems and the back pocket detail which I totally love. The cut I would say is slim straight, which looks a bit like a slim flare so you have several options to get the same effect. The same goes for the distressed details – it’s up to you how raw or edgy you want your denim, depending on what you can get away with at work.

The blazer. I’m wearing a short bouclé round-neck version with no lapels or buttons, with an old basic Chanel feel. I love how it replaces cardigans – just as dreamy soft but looks more smart and structured. Since it’s short, it shows off the vintage pocket details on the back of the jeans brilliantly.

The statement velvet choker. A reminder of the Nineties with a twist and a total staple for years. I love plain chokers too but this one is extra cool with its chain and key detail. You can basically wear any velvet choker but if you want yours unique, you can always buy a couple of similars and go DIY with it.

The shoes. I went for my trusty pointed V-cuts with no decorative detail because I like to avoid mixing metals too much.

The bag. The same rule applies. This one is probably the most minimal piece with a cool oval shape but your fave arm candy with some metal detail should work just as fine.

The belt. Here I allowed myself a bit of gold – it’s a skinny one so the look remains understated.

Easy ways to style the cami top for effortless chic

Bottoms: jeans, tailored trousers and denim skirt or shorts.

Cover-up: wear a blazer or a short jacket but try the look with a black denim shirt or shirt jacket too.

Finishing touches (it’s best if you apply just one of these at a time): a statement necklace or a few fine necklaces, chokers, a silk scarf, a bandana scarf, a black Western hat and double buckle Western style belt.

Any trick you would recommend for casual chic work looks?

Gabriella
